Cobra Electrical

Mobile-first trades website with lead capture for an electrical contracting business.

Cobra Electrical needed a website that worked as hard as they do. I built a mobile-first site focused entirely on lead capture — with click-to-call buttons, instant quote forms, and service area pages optimised for local SEO. The design reflects the professionalism of their work while making it dead simple for customers to get in touch. Built on Velocity for blazing-fast load times that keep bounce rates low on mobile.

Project Overview

Making it easy for customers to book an electrician.

Most people searching for an electrician are doing it from their phone — often in a hurry. I designed Cobra Electrical's website with that reality front and centre. The site features prominent click-to-call buttons, a streamlined quote request form that takes under 30 seconds to fill out, and clear service descriptions that build trust fast. Every page is optimised for local search terms so they rank well in their service areas. The Velocity framework ensures the site loads instantly even on slower mobile connections, which is crucial for keeping potential customers engaged rather than bouncing to a competitor. The result is a website that converts mobile traffic into phone calls and quote requests at significantly higher rates than the industry average.

Mobile-First Architecture and Performance

Blazing-fast load times that keep customers engaged.

Over 70% of searches for electricians happen on mobile devices. A website that's slow or clunky on phones kills conversions. Cobra Electrical's site is built mobile-first, meaning every component is designed for phone-sized screens first, then enhanced for larger screens. Images are optimised for mobile bandwidth — smaller file sizes that load instantly. The Velocity framework handles this automatically through advanced caching, image optimisation, and server-side rendering that ensures the browser gets a ready-to-display page rather than waiting for JavaScript to bootstrap the interface. Core Web Vitals (Google's metrics for page performance and user experience) are all green, meaning the site provides excellent user experience and ranks higher in search results. For someone on a slow 4G connection looking for an electrician in a stressful moment, this performance difference determines whether they call Cobra Electrical or a competitor.

Lead Capture and Conversion Optimization

Every visit is a potential lead.

The website employs multiple lead capture methods optimised for mobile. Click-to-call buttons throughout the site let users dial Cobra Electrical directly from their phone with a single tap — no typing needed, minimal friction. For visitors not ready to call, a streamlined quote request form captures their name, contact details, address, and a description of what they need. The form is designed for mobile thumbs — large tap targets, dropdown selects instead of typing, and clear progress indicators. Form validation provides instant feedback: "Please enter a valid phone number" helps users fix errors before submission rather than submitting invalid data. Submitted quotes are immediately routed to Cobra Electrical's team, with option for automated SMS/email confirmation to the customer. Service area pages target specific suburbs and neighborhoods: "Electrician in Burleigh Heads" or "Lighting installation Mermaid Beach" help the site rank well for hyper-local searches while building trust with customers looking for someone near them.

Trust Signals and Credibility

Building confidence in seconds.

For a trades business, trust is make-or-break. The website establishes credibility through multiple signals: displayed licenses and certifications, insurance coverage details, member affiliations (like Master Electricians or local business associations), years in business, customer testimonials with photos, and a clear emergency response policy. FAQ sections answer common concerns: "Are you licenced?" "How much does an electrician cost?" "What if I need emergency electrical work?" A blog section with articles like "Signs Your Wiring Needs Upgrading" positions Cobra as knowledgeable and customer-focused. Google reviews are prominently displayed (assuming good ratings). The website makes it easy to verify legitimacy — customers can see why Cobra Electrical is trustworthy before making a decision to call.

SEO Strategy for Electrical Contractors

Dominating local search for electrical services.

Cobra Electrical's website is built with on-page SEO best practices: keyword-rich page titles, clear H1 and H2 heading structure, descriptive meta descriptions, and semantic HTML that helps search engines understand page content. Pages are optimized for local search variations: "24-hour electrician Gold Coast", "emergency electrical repair Surfers Paradise", "residential electrician Burleigh Heads", and dozens of other location-based queries. Each service area gets its own page with location-specific content, ensuring the site ranks well for hyper-local searches where intent is highest. Internal linking strategy ties service pages to the home page and each other, spreading ranking power throughout the site. Mobile responsiveness is 100% — all pages work flawlessly on phones, and Google rewards mobile-first sites with higher rankings. The combination of technical SEO, content strategy, and local optimization means Cobra Electrical ranks well organically and benefits from ongoing search traffic growth without increasing paid advertising spend.

Structured data markup (schema.org) tells search engines this is a local service business with specific service offerings, operating hours, and contact information. Google can then display rich snippets in search results — showing phone number, hours, ratings — right in the search listing. This improves click-through rate because potential customers see immediately that Cobra is available, licensed, and well-reviewed. The combination of being in search results AND having compelling rich snippets significantly increases the percentage of searchers who click.

Lead Conversion and Follow-Up

From first website visit to signed contract.

The website captures leads through multiple paths: click-to-call buttons that directly connect to the electrician, quote request forms, or simple contact information for customers who prefer email. Each lead form is optimized for the context: a customer seeking an emergency callout sees a form emphasizing urgency, while someone requesting a quote for planned work sees a detailed form asking about the scope. Submitted leads are immediately routed to Cobra's team via email and SMS notification so response time is fast. Fast response (within 1-2 hours) significantly increases conversion — prospects who don't hear back immediately often call competitors. Integration with phone systems means calls from the website can be tracked, allowing Cobra to see which pages/campaigns drive calls vs. form submissions. This data guides optimization: if "emergency electrical repair" campaigns convert to calls 80% of the time, allocate more budget there; if quote requests come primarily from the "new installation" page, optimize that page.
